How does nutrition tracking work in SuperAge?

Updated: 158 days ago

Nutrition tracking can speed up food logging, but it does not guarantee that every barcode or product will be found. The result depends on what tools are visible in SuperAge, whether the item can be found there, and whether the nutrition details are complete enough to use.

What works

  • Nutrition logging is fastest when SuperAge shows nutrition tools, the item can be found, and the nutrition details are complete enough to use.
  • Barcode scan and product search help when the item already exists in SuperAge.
  • If the exact item is not available, manual logging or the closest available match is the fallback.

What may fail

  • Nutrition tracking is not available in SuperAge if the nutrition logging, barcode, or product search tools are not visible.
  • A barcode scan can return no match even when another search method still finds the item.
  • The product appears, but the nutrition details are too incomplete to use.
  • Nutrition data can be late only when the same kind of entry normally appears in SuperAge without manual logging and is missing this time.

Check in this order

  1. Check whether nutrition logging, barcode, or product search tools are visible in SuperAge at all. If they are not visible, stop there. This is the not-available branch.
  2. If the tools are visible but a barcode scan returns no result, search for the item by name inside SuperAge. If search finds it, use that result. If search also does not find it, waiting will not help. Use a manual entry or the closest available match instead. This is the no-match branch.
  3. If the item appears after search or scan, check whether the nutrition details are complete enough to use. If the item exists but key details are missing, this is the incomplete-details branch.
  4. Only treat the issue as delayed data if the same kind of nutrition entry normally appears in SuperAge without manual logging and is late this time. If that matches what you usually see, allow time for it to appear. This is the delayed-data branch.
  5. Follow the branch you reached above instead of treating every nutrition issue as a sync delay.

When this is a coverage issue, not a sync issue

If nutrition tools are not visible in SuperAge, this is not a barcode problem and not a sync delay. The check ends there.

If a barcode scan returns no match, the scan did not find the item. If product search finds the product, use that result instead of waiting. If search also fails inside SuperAge, waiting will not make that item appear. Use a manual entry or the closest available match.

If the product appears but the nutrition details are incomplete, the item exists but the available information is not complete enough to use. That is a product-detail problem, not a delayed automatic update.

Delayed data applies only when the same kind of nutrition entry normally appears in SuperAge without manual logging, but is late on this occasion. If the item was never found, or it was found with incomplete details, you are not in the delayed-data branch.

What to do for each branch

  • Tools not visible: check whether you are on the latest SuperAge version and whether the feature is available to your account. If it still does not appear, contact support.
  • Barcode no match: search by product name, then use manual entry or the closest match if search fails.
  • Incomplete product details: use manual entry or another item with complete nutrition values.
  • Delayed entry: reopen SuperAge after a short wait only if this kind of entry normally appears automatically.

When to contact SuperAge

Email [email protected] if the nutrition tools should be available but are missing, or if a previously working nutrition flow suddenly stops. Include the feature you used, item name or barcode if relevant, device model, iOS version, and whether search or manual entry still works.
